Star Wars: The Old Republic Now Available for Pre-Order

Star Wars: The Old Republic
Star Wars fans, listen up. Electronic Arts and Bioware on Thursday announced that three custom versions of Star Wars: The Old Republic are now available for pre-order.
Gamers who pre-order will get a special redemption code that unlocks early game access  and an in-game color stone that changes your weapon effect. Bioware did not announce an exact release date except to say that it expects Star Wars: The Old Republic to be “one of the biggest launches of holiday 2011.” In September, however, the company will open “Beta Test Weekends,” which will provide limited, sneak peeks into the “epic stories, worlds, quests, battles and characters in the game,” Bioware said. Bioware stressed that Stars Wars: The Old Republic will be story-driven and is initially looking for quality over quantity. As a result, pre-orders and early game access will be limited.
“Our teams at Bioware and EA, along with our partners at LucasArts, are laser-focused on creating a high quality game, but just as importantly, they are resolute in delivering a high quality service,” Bioware co-founder Ray Muzyka said in a statement. "We are taking all of the necessary steps to make sure The Old Republic has a thriving community built on a stable online foundation from day one, including limiting supply at launch to ensure that players easily transition into the servers.”
Star Wars: The Old Republic is available in three versions: Collector’s Edition; Digital Deluxe Edition; and Standard Edition.

The $149.99 Collector’s Edition includes several physical items, like a Darth Malgus Statue from Gentle Giant, the journal of Jedi Master Gnost Dural from Chronicle Books, The Music of The Old Republic soundtrack, a security key, and a map of the in-game Star Wars galaxy. Virtual items include a Flare Gun, Training Droid, personal HoloDancer, HoloCam, the STAP vehicle, and access to the Collector's Store, an in-game store with items only available to Collector’s Edition buyers. This version also includes 30 days of game time.

The Digital Deluxe version, meanwhile, will sell for $79.99 and also includes 30 days of game time, in addition to five virtual items—the Flare Gun, Training Droid, personal HoloDancer, HoloCam, and the STAP vehicle.
For $59.99, the Standard Edition includes the game and 30 days of game time.
In June, Razer announced a series of licensed Star Wars: The Old Republic PC peripherals to celebrate the MMO game's impending release date, several days after EA showed off a clip of the game at the E3 gaming conference.

In other Star Wars news, Microsoft and LucasArts appeared at Comic-Con today to unveil the first custom Xbox 360 console with Kinect featuring a limited-edition Star Wars theme with R2-D2 and C-3PO. It will also include a new Podracing mode that will be in the upcoming Kinect Star Wars. It's available for pre-order now on Amazon for $449.99.
